If you want your landlord to try to charge you for pest extermination ($150 per treatment), apply for Above The Guideline Increases (7.3%), an increase of $50 a month in the first year, the second year, AND the third year (a total increase of a whopping $150 extra every month at the end of three years), without any appreciable improvement in individual units, and up to $3.25 for a load of wash for laundry machines that are constantly out of order, or management who are unfriendly and difficult, then this is the place for you. I wish, after 10-and-a-half years of living here that I had more positive things to say about Paramount, but after living through three years of constant building repairs, which included jackhammering and constant disruption, all I can say is: Thank God I live in a unit subsidized by the City of Ottawa, and can afford to keep living here, unlike the many tenants who will be paying market rents north of $1000 a month when the three years of increases the Landlord and Tenant Tribunal allowed Paramount are done. In one word, AVOID!
been in a 1 bdrm unit for a few month, all I have until now is bad experience: bugs, smelly hallways (except the first floor, the only place they clean), heat leaking window (good thing if you like 16C during winter). since the windows are poor, all the noise from outside are coming through. Noise are isolated well top-bottom, side to side is bad, door and window are no existent. Unstable power, micros-blackout at least once a week, I notice that because I use digital clock, they reset after a blackout. Especial bad when working on computer.
Very dusty, I vacuum everyday, but no help, my allergy is getting worse and worse since I moved into Alta vista towers.
Staffs are VERY slow in response to repairs, minimum two requests to have a chance to get anything done.
I'm looking to transfer my lease, and I'm honest about how bad I find this place. so the next tenant will not be surprised by it. most likely I'll have to endure it for few more months...
No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend
I lived in a 2 bdrm unit in this building while I went to school in Ottawa. I liked the apartment itself, my roommate and I kept it clean and never had an issue with bugs, and the rent was reasonable (a lot cheaper than living downtown). Overall it was a good spot to live. I moved out because my roommate wanted his girlfriend to move in and I didn't want to be the third wheel (I was offered a job in Toronto around that time so it all worked out). Sometimes some of the laundry machines were out of order which was annoying. TGood spot overall though, no big complaints
