15 years ago, in 1999, my mother bought a dog from Doogans. We had never heard of puppy mills back then so we didn't realize that the health problems he had were likely the result of inbreeding. Also, he was not a JRT as sold; he was a mix, likely a Jack/chihuahua cross as he was nearly identical to a friend's 2 Jackawawas (from a breeder). They told us that he was from "A breeder in Orangeville". I firmly believe it was a puppy mill.
He had a host of health issues; hip dysplasia, severe OCD, and seizures. A reputable breeder would not breed dogs or sell a pup with these conditions.
Despite all these issues, he lived for 14.5 years and, of course, was loved dearly. However, I will NEVER buy another animal from Doogans; or any other store for that matter.
"Adopt, don't shop"
If you support this store, you're supporting puppy mills. MANY people who have worked here have reported the boss bringing in filthy, matted puppies, and the Orangeville store HAS EVEN BEEN ON GLOBAL NEWS about purchasing their dogs from puppy mills. They have also sold me a diseased Guinea pig (then tried to blame me saying it was my shavings, till I reminded them I bought the shaving from them, the same day I bought the guinea pig lol) They also sold a friend of mine a pregnant rat. He purcahsed 2 females, 2 weeks later he had 9 rats, and they told him they wouldnt take the babies! DO NOT GO HERE, THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! if you need pet products, go to PET VALU or GLOBAL PET FOODS.
No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend
