By Tracy from NewmarketDISSATISFIEDI frequent the Newmarket, ON Home Hardware store quite often and have purchased several items including quartz counter top, vanity, toilets, etc. I purchased a $38.00 LED light bulb for a new lamp I purchased and when I returned home, took the bulb out of the package to put in the lamp. I realized I had purchased the incorrect size bulb. I then returned the next morning with my receipt in hand to exchange it for a smaller bulb and the store manager and the owner refused to exchange the product. They indicated that because the package had been opened, it was not returnable. They indicated that this is indicated on the receipt. When I looked at the small print at the bottom of the receipt this was indeed the case; however, I did not want my money refunded I simply wanted to do an exchange. The store owner indicated because Home Hardware is privately owned and not a corporation, they do not do returns. I find this absolutely ludicruous in today's competitive business world, and the many large box stores that are now present, that a company like Home Hardware owned privately or not would not ensure that a customer is satisfied and happy when they leave their store for a $38.00 item. I will no longer be shopping at Home Hardware in Newmarket or any other privately owned Home Hardware. Customer service like this, wow, how much longer will they be in business when the large box stores go above and beyond to keep customers satisfied. Very dissatisfied customer. I have a $38.00 bulb that is totally useless to me. If I could have negative starred this establishment I would have -10*.No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend

The owner of this location took the light and proceeded to plug it in in her office. They made me feel like I was dishonest. When I plugged this item in at home after a while it would stop working. I just wanted to return it to get something else that would work better. Couldn't believe the way they talked to me as a customer. Do they not realize that there competition takes back pretty much everything and does it with a smile. Wont be shopping here ever again.

They want you to shop there but put you through the 3rd degree to return something that anywhere else would gladly take back. Spend your money somewhere else they don't deserve yours.......-
