I had just bought a used car (Oct,2012) and went to Canadian Tire to get it properly looked at & to get it ready for winter. They fixed a few parts, installed 4 new winter tires, then after paying over $1100, the C.T. Automotive Service manager told me that something was wrong with the front end, to bring it back soon so they could find the problem.
Instead, 2 weeks after being robbed by Canadian Tire, I went to Swendsen Bros Automotive. I was told upfront that the entire bottom of the car was completely beyond repairs. They couldn't understand why C.T. did that with a totally rotten bottom including wires and all.
Swendsen Bros owner advised me to immediately drive it to the metal scrap yard & remove the 4 good rims & new winter tires in order to recoup some of the money I lossed. Swendsen Owners felt so bad for me that they didn't even charged me for the work performed. They saved me almost $100. Talk about "decent human beings" for a change. I was a loyal Canadian Tire customer for over 30 yrs, I never went back. Meanwhile, it was my 1st visit at Swendsen and they will continue to have my business and my family, friends and strangers... C.T. refused to reimburse me. With the money from the scrap yard + the sale of the 4 rims & tires, the friend who sold me the car really had no idea about the condition of the car and fully agreed to pay the difference. At the end all I lost was $50 for driving a dangerous car for 1 month. Got lucky that I or anyone else didn't get hurt or worse....
