I ordered a tandem axle assembly and received a box of parts, two axles and two springs... most people are aware that each axle requires two springs but this was news for Pacific Axle. I was also disappointed that there were no assembly instructions as far as how far apart they recommend that the spring hangers are installed, ie what angle do I install the spring hangers to the equalizer? Couldn't find their website either. The springs say www.pacific-axle.com but it doesn't exist. I will look for another vender next time.
This company's customer service is pathetic. We had two axles renewed on our travel trailer in May of this year, and while traveling to Alberta had extremely hot brake drums. We called them from Red Deer and asked what we should do as we could not drive home with the brakes that way. They commented that it was nothing to do with them. We had to have the brake shoes renewed in Red Deer at a cost of $1080.00 after paying nearly $1000.00 to have the axles renewed by Pacific Axle. Pacific Axle had to take off and replace the shoes and drums when they renewed the axles, and when putting the shoes back on, they tightened them too tightly to the drums, therefore causing the problem.
I showed the removed parts to Pacific Axle on my return home, and told them that the drums were so hot bearing grease had come out on the wheel plates. The mechanic replied that he had no idea what caused the problem. I asked to speak with the supervisor/manager, but was told he didn't want to speak to me. I have spoken to a number of people who are experienced in this field, and, without exception they have all said the same thing - the brake drums were put on too tightly on the drums.
No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend
