    After filling up with gas, my car would not start at the pumps at the Husky station adjacent to the Fort Horseless Carriage garage, around 6 in the evening. I was attempting to get on a ferry back to Victoria, but that plan had to be abandoned, along with my car at the garage. The attendant, David, allowed me to push the car in front of the bay doors for the night. I returned at 8 the next morning where I met Gavin, one of the mechanics at Fort Horseless Carriage. He asked me what the trouble was, and quickly and correctly assessed that I had a nearly dead battery. (This was not as obvious as you might think; the dash display read Immobilizer, and the ignition would almost, but not quite catch.) He checked out what type of battery my car required and ordered one from the automotive supply shop, then directed me to a coffee shop to wait. (No doubt to get me out of his hair for awhile.) When it arrived, less than an hour later, they installed it, made a minor alteration to the battery cover so it would slip into place, and sent me on my way. The best part of this is that they did not charge me for labor, and gave me one heck of a break on the final cost of the battery. They cheerfully put all other work aside to get me on my way. I cannot imagine receiving this kind of service anywhere else. Please take your business to Dale and Gavin, they rock!
