By John from LondonGood variety; lots of experience and family friendlyI joined SMAA as a supplement to my on-going kung fu training to gain more "hands on" sparring, jiu jitsu and contact experience. Kioshi Simon provided just that; I found he adapted his training to suit each practitioner. In my case that meant rough and tumble but it did toughen me up and it's what I asked for. I've noticed specific improvements in judging my range of attack and reactions, as well as overall fighting and toughness (I don't flinch when hit anymore...) I have also seen him take a gentler approach depending on the individual student and have noticed that he takes care to suit the individual overall. It's a good club in my opinion. As always it is up to the customer to find the best fit for themselves but it is definitely worth checking out for yourself if you are shopping around for martial arts clubs. Also family friendly. The kids I met who are long time students of the academy showed good discipline and respect which also stood out to me. I wasn't surprised to learn that Kioshi Simon also works as a teacher because he seems to have a knack for working with and motivating kids. Lastly, thee instructors all have a broad experience base to draw from which is nice. There is good variety from point sparring, practical self defense, traditional forms / kata, and jiu jitsu.Yes, I would recommend this to a friend-
