I am a retired nurse with a 90 year old mother living in independent care at XXXXX She contracted the enteric virus that has been so contagious at these homes. After a week of caring for my mother (in isolation), I needed help. I was looking at your list on a Saturday night and called Emergency Personal Support at 9 in the evening never expecting to hear back from anyone until Sunday or Monday. My call was returned 20 minutes later. I spoke with an EPS intake worker about our situation and she said she could have someone be with Mom at 9 the next morning. My sister was there to meet her and introduce her to Mom the next morning. This was our first experience with hiring anyone to look after her. I have to say she has been a godsend to our family. She connected with Mom right away and was able to look after her for six days in a row. In the midst of this we had a medical emergency with my brother-in-law. I was supposed to come at 6 in the evening that night, but was at the hospital with my sister.The PSW stayed on that night which was so appreciated. In the meantime we also hired a private PSW working at Stillwater to help out. I still brought Doreen in to see Mom as she would have missed her. We have since found out this other PSW is away for 2 weeks and again EPS has come to our rescue. I have to say that our first experience hiring private care for Mom has been a very positive one. EPS looks after Moms physical and psychosocial needs. She is very pleasant to deal with and we have had a very collaborative relationship. I would highly recommend this service to anyone and would like to thank EPS for being so good to our Mom and giving my sister and I peace of mind.
