Vérificateur général du Québec

Le Vérificateur général du Québec a pour mission de favoriser, par la vérification, le contrôle parlementaire sur les fonds et autres biens publics. Pour ce faire, il produit des rapports dans lesquels il communique aux intéressés ses constatations, ses commentaires et ses recommandations. Son apport consiste à promouvoir, en ce qui a trait à l’information financière et à celle sur la performance, une reddition de comptes à la fois rigoureuse et transparente. C’est en 1868 que la fonction assumée aujourd’hui par la vérificatrice générale du Québec a été créée. Son titulaire s’appelait alors « auditeur de la province ». Après la réforme de l’administration financière, laquelle a eu lieu en 1970, ce titre est devenu « vérificateur général ». Quant à la Loi sur le vérificateur général, elle est entrée en vigueur en 1985. Le vérificateur général est nommé par l’Assemblée nationale pour un mandat non renouvelable de 10 ans à la suite d’une motion présentée par le premier ministre et adoptée par au moins les deux tiers des membres. For this purpose, it produces reports in which it conveys to interested persons its findings, comments and recommendations. Its contribution consists of promoting rigorous and transparent reporting when it comes to financial and performance information. It was in 1868 that the position today held by the Auditor General of Québec was created. At that time, the position-holder was known as the “Auditor of the Province.” Following the reform of financial administration, which occurred in 1970, this title was replaced with that of “Auditor General.” As for the Auditor General Act, it entered into force in 1985. The Auditor General is appointed by the National Assembly for a 10-year non-renewable term of office upon a motion made by the Premier and passed by at least two-thirds of its members.
