Originators of creative floorcovering, rug design and manufacture. Creative Matters Incorporated – originators of creative floorcovering, rug design and manufacture – was founded by Carol Sebert, Donna Hastings and Luba Huzan. Early in their careers the three textile designers recognized an opportunity in the male-dominated, broadloom-focused carpet industry to develop a firm exclusively dedicated to creating original, hand-crafted rugs. The partners drew on their experience for some of Toronto’s leading firms and a belief in the untapped market potential for handmade custom rugs. Over twenty years later, the partners lead a team of artists whose creations grace upscale retail stores, hotels, corporate offices and residences in more than 40 countries. Clients include such interior design as Yabu Pushelberg, Bill Sofield and Robert Stern Architects. Their creations have been embraced by style-setting retailers Gucci, Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton and Printemps, Paris. Among their hotel installations are The Raleigh (Miami, Fla.), Soho Grand (New York, N.Y.) and Four Seasons (Nevis, West Indies). Creative Matters is a Licensed Importer and member of GoodWeave, a nonprofit foundation working to end illegal child labour in the carpet industry and offering educational opportunities to children in South Asia (www.goodweave.org).
