By GEORGE from 122 5'th Avenue East Owen SoundNot recommendedThe owner was very polite when asking our permission to complete a basement wall repair at our neighbour's property. He promised that he would keep the excavated dirt on plywood that was laid down on our sidewalk. He also reassured us that the dirt would be filled back in properly and relandscaped to our satisfaction. Wanting to be accommodating, we agreed. The job did not go well from the start as they cut the neighbour's gas line shortly into the dig. They also parked their truck on our property to load up debris and branches, while the neighbour's yard remained free and clear. They did move it when asked to do so. They excavated way more dirt than what they had told us and they piled it up against our house instead. The owner did not come to check up on the job as it was being com-pleted. He had given us his cell phone when enlisting our permission, but refused to answer it several times and never returned our calls on time. When the job was completed, the ground between the two properties was uneven and the neighbour's being much higher, caused a runoff and flooding on to our side of the house. When we finally got through to the owner and expressed our concern that the neighbour's repair created a problem for us and we expected some additional work to be done, we were met with a rude response and a hangup in our face. When we called back to express our shock at how we were treated we were told that he didn't care what we thought and again another hang up! I sincerely hope that our neighbour is satisfied with the repair job, but I have my doubts. This was obviously a botched job completed by unskilled workers and an unsupervis3ed crew. We were just trying to be neighbourly and accommodating, but I know that we will be looking at paying out of pocket to have the landscaping fixed up and returned to an acceptable level. I guess that we have learned a lesson. Get it in writing before giving permission even when dealing with a neighbour.No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend-
