My wife's SUV was having transmission issues (check engine light on and stuck in first gear). Had her drive slowly to Fountain Tire in Fleetwood. I spoke with Ken on the phone and told him the transmission was gone and to let me know how much to fix it. He held it overnight and looked at it in the morning. Got a call from Ken and he said, "Yah, transmission gone. Replacement will run around $4000. I asked if he took it apart or did any mechanical work to it. He said no, did not have to as it won't go into reverse and error code reader said transmission fault. Had the vehicle towed by BCAA from Fountain Tire to the dealership to have them pull it apart and do a proper diagnosis. When my wife showed up at Fountain Tire to have the vehicle picked up by BCAA for tow, she was presented a bill for $120. Ken said that's the cost to diagnose. My wife had to pay the $120 to have the vehicle released. My issue is I diagnosed the transmission problem. I didn't need to pay Fountain Tire $120 to tell me that. I, in fact, told them that over the phone. Left a message for them to call me on this as I beleive the charge was over the top. Robin called me the next day and said they did a lot of work on it including plugging in error code reader, look up recall bulletins as well as 4 guys pushing the vehicle into the bay as there was no reverse. I felt like they took advantage of my wife and the situation. Nothing I can do now but let people know of my experience with this shop. Needless to say, I'll never step foot into another Fountain Tire again.
No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend
