Went in for a flat and was told I had to buy 4 brand new tires for no reason!
My car had a flat so I took it over to the Canadian Tire on McPhillips by the Garden City mall. They REFUSED to sell me just one tire! The technician tried to give me dumb story about how I needed all 4 tires replaced because I had 4 wheel drive. Whatever lines management is feeding their employees . . . well it's not working. The technician was tripping all over with his words and in the end, he couldn't give a logical explanation as to why he couldn't sell just one tire. Apparently the manager "won't let him" i.e. Management wants employees to up sell at all costs. I took my car back Birchwood Hyundai on McPhillips where I bought it and they confirmed that Canadian Tire was full of crap. In some cases you might need to replace two tires to balance but NEVER all 4 tires. In my case, one tire to replace my flat was just fine. Birchwood Hyundai said my 3 good tires were only off by 2 psi from the lowest to highest. Even with me driving with one flat tire I wasn't skidding crazily off the road. Which is the "safety concern" that Canadian Tire was trying to capitalize on. This garbage Canadian Tire McPhillips is selling is beyond unethical! They tried to get me to replace 4 tires at a cost of nearly $1400 for no good reason.

    Grumpy Auto Technician
On our last visit to the Garden City Mall Canadian Tire location we were very disappointed. I was waiting in the isle for 10 minutes after pushing the service button. I heard the announcement over the PA. When I went to the service counter to see if I could get help, there were 5 employees chatting and laughing. I interrupted (in a pleasant tone) and asked for help and a man in his late 40's, early 50's said he'd "take care of this" to the other staff. (I was later told his name was Merl) I thought that was a rude response and said, "sorry, but I've been waiting 15 minutes and no one came. Then I walked all the isles in that section while my partner waited by the chains and I couldn't find anyone." He told me I had to push the service button, like I'm an idiot. I told him I pushed it twice and he said that I must have cancelled it out. I told him I heard it announced over the PA both times and there was 10 minutes between pushes. I started to feel attacked and told him it wouldn't be a big deal, but I didn't expect to see 5 employees standing around laughing. He asked what I did for a living and assured me that at my profession I would be allowed to take occasional breaks. I told him what I do and that in fact, NO, if we're seen to be standing around with nothing to do that we are considered unnecessary and let go. (I work in the entertainment industry and it's pretty cut throat, but at the wages we get, to stand around and do nothing is expensive) I also told him that I have done customer service and breaks were always taken off the floor as not to confuse customers, and that I had been waiting for help. He kept saying, "I'm so sure that's the case, ma'am." in a very sarcastic tone. I wasn't actually upset until I felt antagonized. He said a few more condescending comments. I emailed Customer service and never heard back. Truly disappointing as we spend upwards of $3000 there a year.

Go there if you want someone to lie right to your face.
I've taken my vehicle to Canadian Tire McPhillips a few times only because it's close to my work. Unfortunately I've been disappointed every time and the staff aren't concerned with providing good customer service. They ALWAYS try to find something else wrong that you need to fix. Your air filter is dirty, your tires need to be balanced, you need new wipers, etc. And they will give you this add on call 90 minutes from the time you dropped off your car WITHOUT FAIL! One time they called my cell and I could see my car parked back outside from where I was standing. The man didn't know I was right in front of him. He told me that I needed a new air filter. I said no, I don't want a new air filter. Then the man said ok, it will be another 30 minutes before my car was ready. My car was already parked outside! Recently, my cell number was given to a Canadian Tire collection agency. I don't even have an account with CT bank! I get calls from 1-800-561-4465 every day and often in the middle of the night. I called customer service and they said "Sorry it's a mistake." How can you accidentally give my personal information to a collection agency when I don't owe any money and when I don't even have an account with Canadian Tire! That was the last straw. I'll go out of my way to find another place that doesn't hire scam artists!

    Staff didn't care
I had gone down to the Mc.Phillips store around 7:30pm. I had a flat tire and was wanting to purchase a new tire. I had informed the sales associate that I was wanting the winter tire that was on sale for $42. He quoted me $120 with warranty ($7.99) and for balancing ($16.00). I asked if he could have it put on my rim that night. He said no and said could be done by 9/9:30 the next morning. I was upset. In an hour and a half there was no one that could take 5-10 min to do it for me. (my dad has put tires on my rim's before and takes no time and a monkey could do it) your sales associate didn't offer to go ask anyone to see if they could help. I explained I didn't have a ride tomorrow and needed my car for work. He said no and just stood there and stared into space. So I called St.James Canadian tire. They said if I got there asap they could help me. I left your store extremely disappointed. I went to St.James store and sales associate was super friendly and helpful. The staff at Mc.Phillips could learn a thing or two from them over there Also the price was $80 not $120 like at Mc.Phillips store. So is it because I was a woman he was trying to charge me more? I ended up spending $250 on 4 new tires, and next week I'm going to go get new tire's for my husbands car. I'm not a person to complain but I was extremely disappointed at this staff member. I have been working in the service industry for almost 15 years and can't remember the last time I left a place and felt like my blood way boiling. I work as a hair stylist now and I will be telling my customers NOT to go to Mc.Phillips location because of my experience.
