I have paid for house ins. for roughly 40 years and never made a claim. Last years terrible winter in our area with snow then ice then snow, ice, etc. caused weight load and ice damage. Neighbours roof collapsed from same type damage (fortunately they where not home). Gore Mutual Insurance is trying to divide my one claim into 2 claims, not only to collect double deductible 2 x $1000.00 but they've already raised my ins. rate by re-issuing yearly policy, after they had already taken 1st yearly payment previous to reissuing. My house ins. was raised a total of 32.00 per month and they haven't even done the claim yet. I have to wait for 5-6 months for warmer weather for them to fix it. I would also be a homeowner with 2 claims, even though I only made one claim, so can you imagine my insurance rates and options in the future. My disagreeing with them falls on deaf ears. It was the same ice that caused the weight and ice damage Thank goodness I still have receipt from new shingles I had installed a few years before, and home inspection report I had done before new shingles showing roof was fine then. Gore Mutual is also trying to say it could be from damage over the years even though their own engineers report states that he believes it was from the bad winter we had. Going to the Ins. Ombudsman now. Hope they can help. I recommend you DON'T purchase insurance through Gore Mutual.
No, I would NOT recommend this business to a friend
